Lecture week 3

I have just been to the week 3 lecture and I found it very interesting! we were learning about Cine-Speak - the language of the cinema.

We also found out in the next few tutorials we will be shooting some kind of movie and putting it together and posting it on our blog which sounds fun.

In order to do that we needed to discuss further the 8 different types of shots and what they are used for, and also the fact that film is always about a question and and answer the 5 important things are Who, What, Where, When, Why and How, here is a brief discription of what wrote down in class.

Who : who is the movie about - Type of shot used Close Up

What: what is our character doing? - Mid Shot

Where: where is our story taking place, understanding location - Long Shot (also known as an establishing shot at the beginning of each scene.

When: time can be difficult to capture so you can use both a - Wideshot and a Close up for example a close up of a clock may help

Why : we have to try keep the why hidden for a while otherwise people would stop watching the film - a Big Shot could help with the why as it can reveal more about the character.

How: A single medium close up or a series of close ups can help expain an event.

Also most importantly we learned that every shot needs to serve a purpost and have a narrative form.

Stay tuned for my video in coming weeks.....!
